“Community Pharmacy of the Year 2023” Award Goes to Mori Pharmacy

On November 12, the 7th “Pharmacy Award” competition, organized by the Japan National Pharmacy Association, attracted the participation of outstanding pharmacies from across the country. The awards ceremony was an occasion to honor unique initiatives and the continuous efforts of pharmacies in supporting community healthcare, particularly in the areas of digital transformation and medical support for foreigners.

A Highlight in Digital Healthcare Transformation

Standing out among the presentations on digital transformation, the project “The First Online Healthcare Organization for the Foreign Community in Japan” by Mori Pharmacy was awarded the prestigious “Community Pharmacy of the Year 2023” award.

A Mission to Help the Vietnamese Community in Japan

Opened in 2022 in Toshima, Tokyo, Mori Pharmacy pioneered the launch of an online pharmacy service dedicated to the Vietnamese community living in Japan. Recognizing that 480,000 Vietnamese are residing in Japan, with half being workers under the internship program, who often face difficulties and barriers in accessing healthcare, Mori Pharmacy emerged as a practical and effective solution.

With a team of Vietnamese interpreters available 24/7, the pharmacy provides online health consultations, sells over-the-counter products, connects with clinics for online consultations, and delivers medication nationwide.

Effective Communication and Impressive Results

Mori Pharmacy leveraged TikTok to reach the Vietnamese community, attracting over 10,000 service users within just one year. Beyond addressing healthcare queries, the pharmacy also assists patients in dealing with issues such as workplace harassment or unplanned pregnancies by connecting them with lawyers or NGOs supporting foreigners.
